With more than a decade of experience in New York City real estate, Mary Hall Mayer has sold every type of property from co-ops, condos, and townhouses, to negotiating commercial leases. Her tenacity and work ethic have made her one of the most successful and well-respected agents in a very crowded field. Her work constantly stands out.

Mary’s continued excellent relationships with her domestic and international clients have consistently yielded both new and repeat business as well as referrals. Mary takes pride in being a straightforward, intelligent and honest agent. As she has said, I learned a long time ago that when working in a highly competitive industry in a highly competitive city, the most important elements for success are knowledge and focus plus determination and follow-through. Her positive and relentless energy is infectious and can guide any seller or buyer effortlessly through the process.

Mary has been negotiating and selling her entire career. She came to real estate following a stellar tenure in book publishing. As the former Director of International Publishing for Simon & Schuster, Inc., and as a literary agent who founded her own company in London and New York, Mary knows how to match the interests of multiple parties and bring those interests to a close.

Born and educated in the Midwest, Mary has traveled extensively in addition to living in England and the South of France. Even while living abroad, Mary never gave up her residence in New York. From homes on the Upper East Side, to a duplex at the Des Artistes, to a townhouse in the Village, Mary knows New York. She also knows what it means to buy, sell, and relocate internationally. Long an active shareholder in her lower Fifth Avenue co-op, Mary is very adept at helping both sellers and buyers through the co-op process. She speaks French fluently.

Testimonial from Penny C.

“After many years as a coop shareholder, I decided to sell my apartment and I turned to Mary. Known for her honesty and attention to detail, I turned to her expertise as my apartment was in need of renovation. Should I sell it “as is” or renovate? After a thorough review of the process and financial pros-and cons, I decided to renovate to obtain a much higher price. And, Mary advised me and the contractor throughout the entire process. From this to pricing, staging, marketing strategy, and sorting thru the buyers’ qualifications so as to comply with the coop board’s requirements, Mary guided me every step of the way. She was honest and transparent. There is no one else who I would trust more with my real estate concerns.”

Testimonial from Shannon W.

I had worked with another broker previously and received two co-op board rejections. Once I engaged Mary, everything changed. She truly saved the day. Mary understands the market and the art of staging and timing. She was able to find a qualified buyer almost immediately – and she even closed the deal at above the asking price! Mary is detail-oriented, intelligent, honest, and she has unmatched communication and organizational skills.  She’s simply the best!

Testimonial from Kyle A.

Having moved to California, Mary was referred to me as someone I could trust to sell my NY apartment without having to return to NYC.  She did an extraordinary job in preparing my apartment for sale with very little involvement from me.  And, she found a well-qualified buyer who loves the apartment.  Mary is highly recommended.

Testimonial from Samantha F.

Mary is a gem in this industry.  When it came time to list my apartment, Mary made solicited suggestions of thing I could do to get the apartment ready to show.  As a result, we listed my apartment for a much higher price than I thought possible.  Not only did I get my higher asking price, the apartment also sold with days of its’ first showing.
